Hello, my name is erikanyanko and I am an illustrator who loves creating art to inspire others.

 

I love creating art that incorporates Japanese history, culture and aesthetics as well as reimagining characters of pop culture as people of color. Having grown up watching a lot of cartoons, both from the United States and Japan, I have discovered how influential media and its characters can be. Not only with the growing population of biracial and mixed people, I think it is important that the media reflects the growing diversity and showcase characters of not only different ethnic backgrounds but of multiple identities such as sexuality, religion, etc.

 

Along with art, I enjoy educating and exposing myself to a multitude of visual media such as film, literature, museum exhibitions, live performances.
